This past Sunday for Easter we did the song True Love by Phil Wickham. Andrea, one of my graphics volunteers at TRC worked really hard to create the typography portion of the video. Terryl created the click track for us to edit the video to then I add the video and imagery to the background of the typography. I found the barrels on Craigslist and we modified them to fit the LED lights inside. As you can see in the video there was a combination of water and glitter on the barrel where they were drumming. Check it out.
We recently released part 1 of the "Where Life Happens" video series. I used a technique that I hadn't done before so thought I'd share the behind the scenes/ How to view here. View below for the finished version and more details. Enjoy.
So, it's been quite a week of mishaps and technical difficulties. Seriously, one thing after another has gone wrong, broken, crashed, flooded, fused or stopped working.
- My hard drive crashed
- My office lights mysteriously stopped working
- The motherboard on the church's light board crashed, rebooted, crashed again, rebooted again then crashed.
- this happened late Saturday night before service on Sunday morning.
4. A lamp in one of our projectors fused itself to the connector emitting a plume of smoke and electrical burning

Monday I finally had a chance to relax and unwind out on the boat. I had just gotten it back from a service and they didn't attach a water hose back to the motor.
5. By the time we realized what was happening the entire hull of the boat was flooded and the motor was pumping water into the boat faster than the bilge pumps could pump it out.
All of that happening right before Easter, the biggest service of the year.
I think God's gifted me to be able to stay calm when things get really stressful. I'm certain a lot of people would have freaked out being faced with all this stuff.
I've been constantly reminded through all of this that God can make all things work out for good, even through the tough situations. Sunday morning when I arrived to a working light board and we made it through 2 seamless services I just had to laugh and thank God.
How we respond in difficult situations can make a huge difference. Stay calm, focused and trust God.
Of course, this post would be better with pictures so here you go. Sorry no flooding boat pics :)
We just signed up to participate in One Prayer again this year. It was so cool last year to be involved with so many churches and such great speakers. So far we're 1 of 717 churches registered to host video messages from the best speakers in the country.
